Duties and Responsibilities of Operation Theater Technologist

– Transportation of patients to and from the theatre and wards

– Help staff in mobilization of the patient within Operation Theatre

– Help in patient procedures, Maintain procedure room/operating theatre equipment with clean, safe environment for patients and staff 

– Preparation of patient prior to surgery

– Ensure patient is positioned securely and safely on the operating table prior to surgery.

–  Assistance to medical and nursing staff 

– Ensure Patient safety, Assist in theatre according to workload.

– Have good communications with other staff in theatre complex 

– Keep patient confidentiality and be  familiar with operation trays.

– Return equipment’s after procedure and patient safety to CSSD.

– Note malfunctioning equipment’s to person as per protocol 

– Obey hospital’s Health and Safety policies and procedures

Role of Operation Theatre Technologist:

Operation Theatre Technology is technical occupation in the field of health science where an operation theatre (OT) technologist forms an integral part of the operation theatre in hospital.
He facilitates surgical procedures, by preparing equipment necessary for any surgical procedures and looks after all the work and management of the operation theatre which includes managing the patients in and out of operation theatre, looking after all the surgical equipment, arrangement of operation theatre table, dressing table, and anaesthesia table as well as management of the staff. He is also in a team of staff in Central Sterilization Unit in Hospital.
